Marketing your property in a winter market can present its own set of challenges. Cool weather can dampen buyer’s enthusiasm and darker days may not show your property in the best light. Here are Infolio’s tips to lift, brighten and warm your home in the winter months.
Brighten up the garden and add some colour and care
In winter it’s easy to neglect the garden due to the cold weather however we all know that first impressions are everything, so its important to make sure your garden is in tip-top shape. Firstly tidy up overgrowth and pathways then consider adding some winter flowering shrubs to plant around the bases of trees and alongside pathways.
Look for light
The winter months can significantly impact the amount of natural light in your home. Ensure all blinds and curtains are left open to maximise the available light and add soft lighting such as lamps to ensure each room looks its best. Where possible, encourage showings during the day when the natural light is at is best. If there are evening inspections ensure the property entrance and rooms are well lit at all times.
Inject some warmth into your interiors
When it’s cool outside, injecting some warm into your interiors can really boost a room. Consider adding some vibrant colour accents to rooms such terracotta, orange and red. Soft, textured items like throw rugs also add warmth and make rooms cosier.
Turn up the heat!
Ensure your home is adequately heated during inspection periods. If you have a fireplace turn it on. Setting timers on your heating devices around inspections will take the work out of keeping things warm.
